The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) laid cuffs on rapper T.I. this week.

T.I. is being accused of trying to buy machine guns and silencers, asking his bodyguard to make the purchase.

According to the Feds, T.I,, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was busted after they learned one of his bodyguards was allegedly trying to purchase machine guns for the musician. Authorities say the bodyguard admitted to purchasing about nine firearms for T.I. in the past and about 17 firearms for other people in the musician’s posse on previous occasions. The bodyguard claims the rapper gave him cash to purchase the guns, because T.I., as a convicted felon, was not able to legally buy firearms. The bodyguard was arrested last week trying to buy several guns. After his arrest, the bodyguard agreed to cooperate with authorities — that cooperation led to today’s arrest.

Of course, T.I. is denying it. AND laying blame on his bodyguard:

The source told MediaTakeOut.com that "[The bodyguard] asked T.I. for an advance on his [pay] and T.I. gave it to him. …Whatever he spent money on — whether it be guns, drugs, or formula for his children — T.I. had nothing to do with it." That’s it, he was buying formula!

And those guns found in T.I.’s house? "T.I. has security that lives with him and stay with him at all times. The gun that the [federal agents] found belonged to his security team" — all of whom are licensed to carry them, the source claims.

Yes, I just carry three guns in my car because I’m a good guy. That’s going to fly well.
